No way out but up

So today was a setback of a day.  my cold hit me full force last night.  i had this weird dream that my hallucinatory rampage was creating works of art with my mind.

not the point.  because of the sickness snafu i've had to put my fitness situation on hold.  i've really done nothing but take the train home and have been sleeping all day.  also i've put my dietary steadfastness on the back burner.  had some chicken :(

i refuse, however, to not see a silver lining!  i think the universe is doing a whole system shut down to work from the ground up.  getting all the evil out of my system.  so that's what i have to do.

so that's it.  short and sweet.  only the best in the future!

greek of the daaaaaayyyyy. again courtesy of wikipedia:

Eurynomê (Εὐρυνόμη, ευρύς -eurys "broad" + νόμος -nomos "pasture") was the Titan goddess of water-meadows and pasturelands, and one of the elder Oceanides. She was the daughter of Oceanus and Tethys.[1] Eurynome was the third bride of Zeus and mother of the Charites, goddesses of grace and beauty.[2]
When Hephaestus was cast from Olympus by the goddess Hera, who was disgusted at having borne a crippled child, he was caught by Eurynome and Thetis (possibly a doubling for Tethys, her mother). Eurynome and Thetis nursed the god Hephaestus on the banks of the earth-encircling river Oceanus, after his fall from heaven.[3] Charis, Eurynome's daughter, later became Hephaestus' bride.[4]
Eurynome is closely identified with another Eurynome, Queen of the Titans. A second derivation of her name, "wide-ruling" can be taken from the Greek words eurys "wide" + nomos "law" or "ruling". This Eurynome was an early Titan queen who ruled Olympus beside her husband Ophion. The pair were wrestled for their thrones byCronus and Rhea who cast them down into the earth-encircling river Oceanus.[5] She may have been the same as the Titan Tethys whose river-god sons nurtured the pastures and whose daughter Eurynome was goddess of pasturelands. Eurynome's husband Ophion "the Serpent" was similar to Tethys' husband Oceanus, who in classical art was represented with a serpentine-fish tail in place of legs and holding a snake (ophis). It is also possible that Ophion and Eurynome (daughter of Oceanus) were equated with Uranus (Heaven) and Gaia (Earth). In the Orphic Theogonies Gaia was the daughter of Hydrus (Water), a primordial being similar to Oceanus. It was Uranus who Cronus wrestles for the throne of Olympus in Hesiod's Theogony.[6]
Eurynome was worshipped at the confluence of the rivers Neda and Lymax in Arcadia. Her xoanon, which could only be viewed when her sanctuary was opened once a year, was a wooden statue bound in golden chains depicting a woman's upper body and the lower body of a fish.[7] Her son Asopus was the god of a nearby stream in the adjacent region of Sikyonia. The fish-tailed goddess, Eurynome, worshipped in Arcadia, may have been Eurynome wife of Ophion, Tethys the wife of Oceanus, Eurynome mother of the Charites, the goddess of the river Neda, or a watery Artemis.[8]

Day 2: Stupid Sick

OF COURSE the moment i start a total life transformation my immunity system decides to self destruct.  Yes, my post title is blowing my illness out of proportion but i can definitely say that i am ill.  right now i feel cold and my forehead is really hot.  go figure.

but illness hath no power over a determined ww!  this morning i took a jog around pasadena and then i went to a little park to do a couple of exercises.  I don't know if Diana was considered a ninja by any straights but i'd like to throw that under my wishlist of abilities by the end of this.  so i tried doing the back to feet flips that you see in all the ninja movies.  you know, like the ninja classic "teenage mutant ninja turtles."  The muppet one.  that one changed lives...

Still sticking to my meat weaning and like i said before, not too difficult.  I have eaten the occasional "bread" thing, blah blah but i was never going to quit cold turkey.  this is a gradual effort.  all permanent change is usually slow and steady.  you're welcome for that quotation ;)
i did find a great place in culver city after a meeting i attended.  the cafe is called "Green Peas." and it caters to vegan and non-vegan peeps alike.  and the best part? FREE WIFI.  so i definitely see myself frequenting this place more often.

I was looking over my initial list and definitely know changes will be made.  for one, i am a person who constantly needs her workout changed up to be interesting.  so i think under the idea of "getting fit," will be the idea that in order to emulate the amazon princess i will need to be amazon-esque.  No i will not grow a rainforest and get a tan, silly literal people.  i intend to train like the amazon women of greek mythology!  combat, agility, strength, cunning.  swords! bows and arrows! horseback!  i'm really pumped about the last three.  so that's a change.  i figure out how to be more articulate in the future about how to lay it out.

To remedy my greek mythology saturation situation i've decided to end each post hereafter with a "greek of the day."  could be fact, fiction, person, god or demigod.  figured it'll force me to be enlightened.

Lastly I want to stress the importance of self betterment.  Not gonna lie, the meeting i attended today was about self improvement and it was very much needed.  One thing i think stands out with all superheroes depicted in comics, WW included, is the fact that they are very confident with themselves and their beliefs they enact upon them for the betterment of others.  they see themselves as a positive force and wish to share that positivity with humanity.

what's not to love about that?  basically my list item of "spreading ideals" means i have to have ideals i really believe in and that means to really know what i believe.  like socrates said "know thyself."  and i don't.  i haven't put myself first for a long time. i'm learning to now and i think that's the first step.  so i need to build and find that confidence within me before i place it without.

like i said it wasn't going to be easy, but i'm very excited about the ends, knowing the means are going to be just as awesome!

as for pampering for the day: bought myself a few comic books. Hit up one of my fav places, "The Golden Apple" on Melrose.  they rearranged their store so it is so easy to navigate now!  plus they usually have an assortment of books that are hard to find elsewhere.  and they are REALLY cool.

part of my "princess" mission also ties in with listening to my body and knowing when to put my needs first.  i think one issue i have is blending assertiveness with selfishness.  one is positive one is negative.  that being said i have another meeting today and am definitely going to play it by ear.  if i feel ill, i'm heading out.  probably will anyways.  no sense in potentially getting everyone else sick, and no sense getting myself in a worser situation.

so that's it for now.  we shall see what tomorrow brings.  but every little step matters!

oh... and i've decided in true WW fashion that my nail polish color of choice will be red for the remainder of the year.  shades of red, of course!  but red is the base hue.  eep, commitment!

alright, enough talking.  here is the start of "greek of the day" starting with:

Greek χάος means "gap, gaping void, chasm, abyss", from the verb χαίνω, "gape, be wide open, etc.", from PIE *ghen-, cognate to Old English geanian, "to gape", whence English yawn.
Hesiod and the Pre-Socratics use the Greek term in the context of cosmogony. Hesiod's chaos has often been interpreted as a moving, formless mass from which the cosmos and the gods originated, but Eric Voegelin sees it instead as creatio ex nihilo,[2] much as in the Book of Genesis. The term tohu wa-bohu of Genesis 1:2 has been shown to refer to a state of non-being prior to creation rather than to a state of matter.[3] The Septuagint makes no use of χάος in the context of creation, instead using the term for גיא, "chasm, cleft", in Micha 1:6 and Zacharia 14:4.
Nevertheless, the term chaos has been adopted in religious studies as referring to the primordial state before creation, strictly combining two separate notions of primordial waters or a primordial darkness from which a new order emerges and a primordial state as a merging of opposites, such as heaven and earth, which must be separated by a creator deity in an act of cosmogony.[4] In both cases, chaos refers to a notion of a primordial state contains the cosmos in potentia but needs to be formed by a demiurgebefore the world can begin its existence.

That's all!  Stay wonderful!

Day 1: Ready, Set, Wonder!

So this is where it starts.  After four fun filled days at SDCC, I have taken it upon myself to become a superhero.  For the next year I am going to actively try to follow the lifestyle of Wonder Woman, aka Diana.

Time for a Diana Breakdown:

according to wikipedia, the abridged version of her life is the following:

"Wonder Woman is a Princess of the Amazons (based on the Amazons of Greek mythology) and was created by Marston, an American, as a "distinctly feminist role model whose mission was to bring the Amazon ideals of love, peace, and sexual equality to a world torn by the hatred of men."[2] Known in her homeland as Diana of Themyscira, her powers include superhuman strength, flight, super-speed, super-stamina, and super-agility. She is highly proficient in hand-to-hand combat and in the art of tactical warfare. She also possesses an animal-like cunning and a natural rapport with animals, which has in the past been presented as an actual ability to communicate with the animal kingdom. She uses her Lasso of Truth, which forces those bound by it to tell the truth, a pair of indestructible bracelets, a tiara which serves as a projectile, and, in some stories, an invisible airplane."

So basically i got the following:

1. Since she's based out of greek mythology, I'd assume she'd have a great proficiency in greek mythology, philosophy, etc.
2. She wants to spread ideals of love, peace and gender equality.  I'm going to expand that last one to equality for all, makes more sense now.
3. She is super fit.
4. She talks to animals.
5. She has an invisible vehicle.
6. She is a princess (duh)

So my plan is the following:
1.To become proficient in the greek classics.
2.To spread my ideals of love, peace and equality to the best of my ability.
3.To get super fit... crap.
4.To become a vegan (in all books i've read on WW she is a vegetarian because let's face it, you don't want to eat your friends, their babies or their byproducts).
5.I need to fly a jet.
6. To treat myself like a princess.

I swear I've thought this out... most of it.  The way I see it, everyday i'll take on at least one of the six tenants i've established.  The more the merrier.  It will be  gradual and practical approach.  I'm not looking to "try something new everyday" because i don't have the bank account nor the time to do so.  And to keep myself in check I've created this blog for myself.  No i don't intend for anyone to really read this but the idea that i have a blog makes me feel like i have some responsibility to the interweb to stay consistent.

So without further ado, here we go!

Today I had to drive up from San Diego to Los Angeles and then spend all day recording.  So i decided to start something easy, like wean meat out of my diet.  It's actually not a bad plan since i've been eating poorly these past couple of days (Comic Con!).  I pretty much have stayed true to form, only slipping up with one hard boiled egg that i ate because i was hungry as frick.  but the rest was veggies and other stuff.

Since I've just moved up here with my own digs I'm hoping as soon as i get settled to really tackle the other "pillars of Diana."  I'm sure the list will change as I continue down this road.  I know in my gut that this is probably the best thing i can go through.  I know it won't be easy, but i think that as long as i keep a positive attitude and stay true to myself that there can be nothing but a positive transformation ahead for me.

so pumped.  time to unleash my ww.  Hera, give me strength.
